Our treatment methods

At Chiropractie Leiden, we don’t use a one-size-fits-all technique. We first examine what’s going on, then tailor the treatment to your symptoms, body, and goals. Sometimes that’s primarily chiropractic care; sometimes we combine it with complementary methods or diagnostics.

Treatment is tailored
(and that starts with examination)

We don’t just look at where your symptoms are located, but especially at why they keep coming back. Based on the intake, physical examination, and any additional diagnostics, we determine which treatment methods are right for you.

Chiropractic treatment: improving function, reducing symptoms

Chiropractic is an academic discipline focused on optimizing the balance of the nervous system, without medication. In practice, this means we work on better movement, less tension, and a body that can recover more effectively.

What we commonly treat:

  • Mobility of the spine and joints
  • Muscle and tissue tension
  • Posture and movement patterns
  • Symptoms related to sensory processing via the nervous system

Additional diagnostics

Sometimes we want to know more in order to treat with real precision. In those cases, we use additional diagnostics as a tool during examination or reassessment.

MyoVision® scan (sEMG)

The MyoVision® scan is an electrodiagnostic tool that uses electrodes to map muscle tension. For the chiropractor, this can help confirm spinal blockages. For you, it’s often reassuring because you gain insight into what’s being measured. Scans are often performed during a first visit and at reassessment.

RightEye® examination (eyetracking)

RightEye® provides insight into how the visual system functions. Because your visual system is connected to the spine through the nervous system, this information can be relevant for chiropractors. RightEye® can help detect underlying issues, measure recovery progress (for example after a concussion), and improve performance (for example in sports, through better eye coordination). You’ll have access to your report and exercises through a secure connection.

Brafo® measurement (viewing advice for glasses)

Glasses can have more impact on your functioning than you might think. When there’s a difference in strength between left and right, and with varying viewing directions, the prismatic effect changes, causing your eyes to constantly “correct.” This can be tiring and contribute to symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, and dizziness. The Brafo test calculates these differences and provides personalized viewing advice. For children, practical advice (such as where to sit in the classroom) can sometimes already make a big difference.

The three phases of recovery

01

RELIEVING SYMPTOMS
(intensive phase)

In this phase, we focus on reducing pain and physical discomfort. Appointments may be scheduled closer together. You’ll also receive advice on how to manage your symptoms in daily life.

02

RECOVERING
(corrective phase)

As the worst symptoms subside, muscles and tissues often still need to recover. We work on stabilizing the spine and overall function, continue to guide the recovery process, and usually reduce the frequency of visits.

03

MAINTAINING
(preventive phase)

Wanneer maximale verbetering is bereikt, adviseren we soms een periodieke check. Het doel: terugval voorkomen en nieuwe klachten vroeg aanpakken, voordat ze groter worden. Voorkomen is beter dan genezen.

Complementary treatment methods (in addition to chiropractic care)

Sometimes we use complementary techniques to support faster relaxation, recovery, and freedom of movement.

Rapid Release® technology

Rapid Release® was developed for pain reduction, greater freedom of movement, more flexible joints and muscles, and support with tendon inflammations. It works with targeted high-speed vibration therapy (short stroke, high frequency) and is comfortable and fast. At Chiropractie Leiden, we use this as a complement to certain treatments.

Multi Radiance® laser therapy

With Multi Radiance®, we use a class IV laser with a high level of safety. The technology works with sophisticated software that can synchronize different wavelengths. The LaserSweep® software precisely “scans” the tissue through the number of laser pulses per second. The effectiveness of the Super Pulsed Laser technology has been tested in vitro and in vivo and is supported by clinical studies. People with chronic symptoms and athletes often experience additional benefit when this is combined with chiropractic treatments.

Multidisciplinary approach: we look beyond the "visible" symptom

We don’t limit ourselves to the manifestation of a problem, but prefer to focus on the root cause. That’s why, during the course of treatment, we often also address posture, movement, and nutrition.

Where needed, we involve skilled team members and maintain close contact with GPs, specialists, sports professionals, and other therapists in the region. Our starting point: an approach that leads to the fastest recovery.
